This is an ownership product. The customer is the owner of the car and pays back the loan with monthly payments. There is no GST on the repayments but if the customer is GST registered they can claim GST on the cash price of the vehicle. Quite often this GST portion is structured back into the loan repayments. Various loan structures are possible. For business use the vehicle is listed in the customer’s books as an asset and can be depreciated. The interest content in the monthly payments can also be claimed.
